Twice Clothing Review

I first discovered Twice a few weeks ago by clicking on an add for the site on Facebook (which is something I never do). I was shocked I had never heard of the company before! Twice is an online resale store. Most items are gently used clothing, but some items are still new with tags. And the brands they offer are exceptional — were talking Anthropology, J. Crew, Ann Taylor, Free People, Madewell, Gap, etc. Not to mention all items are marked down 70% to 90% off their original retail price! And of course, because Twice offers gently used clothing, that means you can send in old items from your closet! They only accept "classic brands" off their accepted brands list, but you will get paid for items they decide to sell (instead of having to wait for it to sell to get paid)! They will even send you a free shipping kit to help you clean out your closet.



I ended up picking out six items for my first purchase from Twice. I was surprised by how much some of these pieces were marked down! Especially since two of them were new with tags (the limited skirt and zara top). I did end up sending half of them back, though, rather unfortunately. I kept the Ann Taylor Loft dress and skirt and The Limited skirt. I would have kept the pants, but they were a little to small in the waist — which was really a bummer, because I've been wanting a pair of black corduroy pants for a long time and they were such a good price and in pristine condition. The Zara top looked cute online but was an immediate no when I tried it on; it made my boobs and shoulders look super weird. The piece I was really disappointed about was the Lucca Couture dress. The pictures on Twice made it look super comfy, structured, and in great condition. None of those things were true. I should have noticed before buying that it was made out of viscose, but even still that dress felt like nothing close to viscose to me. The material was atrocious, the fitted waist stretched right over my belly and looked rather stretched (and sheer) and lumpy on (and was super itchy).

Regardless, I was super happy with this first purchase from Twice and will definitely buy from them again. The free returns does help out a lot, too! The pieces I did keep were so nice and I've worn them all already. I wore the Ann Taylor dress immediately the day it arrived and didn't take it off for days because it is so comfortable and effortlessly stylish and pretty. They are all pieces that will become staples in my wardrobe. And let's talk a minute about how much I saved! The Ann Taylor Loft dress was originally priced at $84.49, and Twice priced it at $27.95. The Limited skirt was originally priced at $68.99 and Twice priced it at $18.95. The Ann Taylor Loft skirt was originally priced at $58.98 and Twice priced it at $9.95. Now, I also had a promo code for 50% off my order so really I paid $13.97 for the dress and $9.48 and $4.98 for the skirts or about $28 total for the pieces I kept! That's almost $200 worth of savings. For the quality of the pieces, I feel like this was a steal!

Summer Wardrobe Staples | Wishlist

I'm sitting in my apartment with the air conditioner blasting, tissues close at hand (woohoo allergies!), and Radiation City's Animals in the Median playing — which is a perfect summer album, in my opinion (listen to 5 tracks from it below). Summer is here to stay, much to my disappointment. I can barely stand the dry heat in Boise already. That just means we are a little bit closer to Fall and being able to wear layers again though, right? I'm trying to stay optimistic about these long hot months ahead by day dreaming of new pieces to add to my summer wardrobe. I've been all about fun but classic patterns, lightweight materials, and pops of bright colors lately. I tried on the first top at Anthropologie the other day and about died because it is so cute and fits so well but is so out of my price range.

Jelly Sandal Appreciation

I absolutely love the fact that jelly sandals have made such a come back recently and I'm a little sad that I still haven't gotten my hands on a pair. Jellies were a staple in my wardrobe from age 5 to 10; I always had a pink and/or glitter pair. So of course, I am a little predisposed to gushing over all the jelly sandals I've seen popping up. There is some sort of built in reflex when I see jellies, I just turn into one giant heart eyes emoji screaming "GIMME!" Am I the only one freaking out about the fact that jellies are on trend? Jelly Sandals for adults? That's every 90s girly girl kid's dream, right?

Spring Floral and Stripes

Yesterday morning we went out to the park early, and although I sported my down jacket for the majority of our walk the sunshine felt glorious. Taking my coat off for pictures, for once, wasn't freezing torture. The day warmed up and we saw a high around 70 F! What? I shed my jacket and traded my flats for chacos. The park (camels back park here in Boise) later in the afternoon was a bit surreal, as the density of people in that park reached something I have never seen before on a random Sunday in March. The trees lining the bottom of the hills were entirely strung with hammocks and slack lines and people. Bikers and hikers were a plenty. Every child in a 5 mile radius (I swear) was packed on that playground. Several families had even packed in their grills. And I mean, like giant propane grills. What even. So funny. Everyone was basking in the spring glory, in their own way. We took another hike/walk in the evening, because we simply couldn't help it. And after, I insisted that we enjoy dessert (affogatos) on the patio before dinner. Because, who can resist ice-cream in the sunshine?

Wearable Spring Inspiration

The signs of spring are all around me already, and it is (almost) hard to believe but certainly a relief. This winter has seemed harsher than normal (this is coming from someone who loves winter), probably due to that long inversion we suffered. Lately, we've gotten an abundance of rain, temperatures have been at least above 50 F almost daily, and green is sprouting from all sorts of plant-life. I've been turning off the heat in our apartment during the day, as the sun in the afternoon is more than satisfactory. Pippin even lays out on the patio like he's having a relaxing day at the beach. That, and planning his attack plan for those squirrels.

Warmer weather means I have been grabbing pieces from my closet that I've shied away from for months. I've been especially drawn to all my loose, flowy, sheer tops and bright(er) colors. I'm really loving lace, embroidery, denim/chambray, neutrals, and starch whites too. Above are a few pieces/images I've found (most via my styled right pinterest board) that match the style I am currently leaning towards. They just don't necessarily match my budget, yeesh. But I'm still using the inspiration, regardless.

Loungewear: A Cozy Night In

I recently started linking up with Nicole from Gypsy in Jasper for her What to Wear feature and it was lots of fun! There are so many lovely ladies linking up there every few weeks, be sure to check it out. I had every intention of sitting this linkup out (I've been so sick and so un-photogenic) but when I realized the tutorial I was going to be posting today just wasn't ready, I was pretty excited to see that the linkup prompt was 'Cozy Night In.' This prompt couldn't have come at a better time, although I should probably title my post Cozy Week In if we're keeping things honest around here. I was hit with the flu, and hit hard, so it is easy to assume that loungewear has been my second skin lately.

Regardless of how many days and nights I have spent in lately, this is an outfit I love and that I love wearing. Maybe it's the pattern in the leggings, but it's one of those comfy outfits that makes me feel a little more put together than I really am. It looks nice without trying. Like, I would totally just pull on a pair of boots and a coat and go run some errands in this. If I must. But it is definitely more suited for curling up next to Pippin with a good book and a mug of tea.

Do you see that smile up there? I am feeling 100% better today. Yes, I'm still having the occasional coughing fit, but I'm no longer viewing life from underneath a stack of blankets. Or behind thick heavy googles. The blankets were real, the googles were not. Anyone else feel hazy and strange and unfamiliar when sick? Like you're viewing/experiencing everything from behind a thick veil? Being sick is weird, frustrating, and no fun. I am so happy to be feeling well rested and ready to get back to normal.

Sweater Dress and Moonlight

Story time; ready, go! I've been absent here all week and maybe your curious as to why. Well, I'll tell you why regardless. I've been terribly sick. I don't remember the last time I was this sick. It wasn't anything too serious: sore throat, way too much mucus, migraine, body aches, bit of a cough. But Tuesday I had the worst fever of my life (at least that I can remember). Fevers like that are zero fun and actually a bit scary. Will had me bundled up in bed beneath the majority of blankets we own, with pillows piled around me and a pup snuggled close. It is a good thing he takes such good care of me because I could not even form coherent thoughts. And talking hurt too much. I'm pretty sure the past two/three days was just me under lumpy blankets making unrecognizable moans and grunts and snorts and coughs. And so much soup and so much tea. The good news is I'm feeling a lot better today so I can finally share these pictures (taken several days ago) with you.

The weather lately has been exceptionally warm for this time of year and it is so so lovely. We're talking the mid 40s people! That's light jacket/sweater weather! Crazy. I think it is perfect and basically want to spend all my time outside. The pups agree. We decided to take them for a walk at sunset but by the time we got to the park it was already fairly dark. The pups didn't mind much, and I didn't either because the moon was out and bright and shining beautifully over the frozen pond.

Beanie, Dots, Dinosaurs

Beanie, Dots, Dinosaurs. Is there a better combination? This outfit could also be called A Whole Bunch of Things I Received For Christmas, but I thought the first a tiny bit catchier. I'm lucky; quite a few of the people who love me have exceptional taste. That, or they know just what I like. The beanie was a gift from my brother, the sweater and scarf from my mother, and the tights from my sister. I love them all, and it was a coincidence that I wore it all together and didn't notice until making this post.

Today was perfect, weather-wise, if you ask me. We got a fresh heaping dump of snow over night, the clouds stayed out for the majority of the day (so the snow didn't melt), it was warmer than it has been (a high of 36 degrees, woohoo!), and now that the sun is setting a thin fog is forming. I wore this outfit out for a long list of errands today. Will and I came back home and treated Pippin to a quick walk (because the sun was already setting) around the neighborhood and he shot these for me. That pup of mine sure loves running around in the powdery snow. Do you see that happy face!?

Wears: Winter Walks

I think we can safely say that winter is officially here. We have yet to have any snow stick around but there is a nice view of it in the mountains. And there just may be some in the forecast for early next week; I'm crossing my fingers that it sticks this time. I'm also sticking with tradition and wishing for snow on my birthday again, I've only done so every year for as long as I can remember. This girl knows what she likes.

Despite the persistent chill, I've been making an effort to still get out of the house once a week for a nice walk. That means lots of layers and cozy outfit additions. I was silly yesterday afternoon though, when we went for this walk down in the park, and completely forgot a pair of clothes. Brrr guys. At least I had my thermos mug of chai to help out a bit. I had made a mental note that when we were taking pictures that I would take of my coat for a few of them so that you'd be able to see the rest of my outfit fully. I may have forgot. Or it may have just been too damn cold. Sorry guys. I guess you'll just have to expect a coat over all my outfits for the next few months. Just zoom in real close? Also isn't Will really good at getting slightly awkward candid shots of me? I like it.

I hope you are enjoying the season, even if it is butt-cold where you are too. I'm getting so excited for all the festive things that happen around Boise this time of year. You know, all the events I always say we should go to and then we never follow through. But I am determined this year, I've added them all to my calendar for motivation. Thanksgiving tomorrow (!) and then the tree lighting downtown on Friday. I also want to go ice skating at the new outside rink at The Village and walk around Winter Garden aGlow at least once.

Wears: Hanging on to Autumn

This weekend was rather lovely, as per usual. I live for the weekends these days, for the long mornings snuggled in bed and a few adventures around town. It's getting dark so early around here that there is little else I want to do but make dinner and curl up in bed with a book by the time Will gets home from work during the week. It means I've become quite the homebody lately. Although I don't mind a bit, weekends have been rather refreshing. Yesterday was Veterans Day, which means Will didn't have to work (thanks state jobs) and we got to spend the day together in this fall weather that seems to be hanging around more than usual. We went for a walk around Municipal Park in the afternoon, ate an early dinner at Mazzah (their falafel is the best!), and ran some errands. A perfect date day, I think.

Walking around Municipal Park was so lovely. There is a cool little nature center and walk there (the state fish and game headquarters is next to the park and they care for it) filled with birds and native plants and fish viewing areas. I realized it had been years since I had been down to that park and Will had never been. Sometimes I forget that he didn't grow up around here too. And then I feel guilty for not showing him Boise gems more often. I'm trying to be better about it. We decided, while out walking, that autumn has seemed extra long this year. In Boise, autumn always seems to be gone in the blink of an eye, with summer dragging out longer than wanted and then the cold hitting suddenly (and the leaves subsequently quickly dropping). But we're still getting fair weather and some leaves are still hanging on. I don't mind, but at the same time I'm really jonseing for a snowstorm.
