Geometric Spring/Summer iPhone Backgrounds | Free Download

I wanted to stop in really quick with something fun for you! Things have been rather quiet over here, and they will likely continue to be for awhile, as I'm busy busy busy with other projects. I'm really excited about some of the work I'm doing, and I'll have more to share with you soon as well as (eventually) a bunch of changes here. But, wow, I am getting ahead of myself. I've been playing around with lots and lots of patterns lately, so I'd thought I'd share some with you.  I adore spring colors, so I went a little crazy. And of course, ice cream, as it has been a staple in my diet lately (I kid... or do I?) thanks to the sudden increase in temperature here. These patterns are super cute, colorful, and fun and are perfect for a simple lock-screen or home-screen style.

Please feel free to use any of the of the images above to give your phone a fresh and colorful new look. Just view my blog on your phone, then click the image above you want to use to view a higher resolution. Then, hold down on the image, select save image, and find it in your camera roll from there. You know the drill :)

Happy May!

Snippets: Spring Things

Hike after a rain storm (smells heavenly) // My favorite fun, comfy purple tights are required on days that I'm rained in; instant mood booster // Pippin NOT putting up with my selfie attempts // Basil plant as an Easter gift from Will's mama // Another plant baby (this one is peperomia), an Easter gift from my mama  // Thai curry noodle soup is perfect on a cold, rainy day // Sunflower season is kind of my favorite; I've had lots of pretty blossoms on the dining table lately // Tuna pizza (whattt? it was so good) leftovers and a yummy, fresh avocado salad // The foothills are always prettiest in the morning // New favorite beer? Yes please. You can see here that we have indeed had some rain-free days, they've just been sparse lately (I love rain, so I don't mind too much) // Pippin on a rainy night last week, while I was enjoying a book //

It's been awhile since I'd shared a snippets post, and my photo album on my iPhone was growing to a ridiculous size. Cleaning out my phone and transferring pictures to my hard drive is always a good time to reflect on little snippets and some favorite moments I'v captured recently. Smart phones are just so great.

Spring has been treating me well, but I've been feeling a little cabin-fever lately thanks to the constant rain. I'm really looking forward to this weekend; I've been living for the weekends lately. It just feels so much better to have Will around the house too. It's been raining ALL week, but we're getting a break from the precipitation tomorrow. We're going to drive up the mountain in the morning (Saturday), in search of some trees and a view. We'll get some good hiking in, too, I'm sure. My legs and my spirits will sure appreciate it.

Hope you have a lovely weekend,
xx Emorie

The Calm Before

Will took these pictures of me last night, and although they aren't necessarily the most blog worthy (or my best) I really like them. They feel raw and real and reflect the mood and spontaneity of this moment. We were finishing up a simple dinner while watching Archer (does anyone else watch Archer? I'm in the third season and can't stopppp!) when I suddenly realized how quickly our view out the windows had changed. It had been a humid, warm, windy and overly sunny day (a little too warm for my liking, at 72 degrees) but suddenly the sky was dark and the wind had picked up significantly. It was simply beautiful out and I somehow talked Will into quickly running up the hillside to get a good look at the city and the incoming storm with me.

This outfit is definitely a result of desperately needing to do laundry; I don't give this dress the amount of wear and attention it deserves. I threw on these sandals because they were right by the door from getting the mail earlier (and my feet got really dirty walking up the hill in these). My hair is styled this way because I haven't washed it all week and it had gotten to a high level of annoyance but I still was determined to go another day without cleaning it; scarves and headbands are my best kept hair secret — it's still too short to pull up so I just cover it! I haven't worn makeup for days (and hey, my face needs some serious exfoliating and moisturizing) but I threw on some tinted chapstick for this pictures. The wind was either throwing my dress around or sucking it around my legs. And Pippin photobombed half of the pictures we took. I love that so many small, messy moments can still add up to something beautiful.

It started to rain while we were out and I still can't get over how fresh it felt up there. It was a much needed moment to step back and reflect for a bit — it was just an added bonus that it was so lovely out. My favorite kind of weather. I spent the rest of my evening curled up with a book and Pippin, under a blanket, with all the windows open. I say curled up with Pippin although he spent most of the night sitting in the windowsill (he's part cat, I swear) sniffing the air and listening to the rain. My favorite kind of evening.

Thank you all for your encouragement, understanding, advice, and support for my post yesterday; it means the world. It was nice to vent. And I'm still fighting, don't you fret.

Jelly Sandal Appreciation

I absolutely love the fact that jelly sandals have made such a come back recently and I'm a little sad that I still haven't gotten my hands on a pair. Jellies were a staple in my wardrobe from age 5 to 10; I always had a pink and/or glitter pair. So of course, I am a little predisposed to gushing over all the jelly sandals I've seen popping up. There is some sort of built in reflex when I see jellies, I just turn into one giant heart eyes emoji screaming "GIMME!" Am I the only one freaking out about the fact that jellies are on trend? Jelly Sandals for adults? That's every 90s girly girl kid's dream, right?

2. Juju Seven Baby Pink Exclusive Flat Jelly Sandal | ASOS
3. FUNKY Gladiator Shoes | ASOS
4. Harley Jelly Sandal In Black | Missguided
5. Totally Jelly Sandal in Clear Sparkle | ModCloth
6. Bettie Jelly Glitter Heeled Sandals in Coral | Missguided

I love all of these pairs, but #1 and #4 are probably my favorite — they seem so classic and an adult twist on the classic jelly shoe, but of course, still jellies and fun. The #2, #3, and #6 pairs are all fun spring colors and more current trendy styles. Lastly, #5 are just a perfectly shameless classic jelly.

What do you think? Will you be wearing jellies this year?

Texture Samples | Signs of Spring

It's been raining constantly and fiercely for quite a few days. When I didn't wake up to the pounding sound of rain on the roof this morning, I knew I had to get out first thing and hit the trails with Pip. We've been itching to go hiking for days, seeing as it is or regular morning routine to do so. I love the rain, but it is a bit of a bummer when it keeps you from your daily walk through the hills. Mudslides are kind of a thing, haha. This morning was lovely, to say the least. We went an extra long route to give our legs the stretch they needed. It was rather cold and windy (I was bundled up in a hat and down coat), but I rarely noticed. Spring is starting to take life in these hills and it is wonderful.

If you ask me, the best time to go out on the trails (well, besides, you know, everyday...) is the day after it's been storming. There is hardly anyone out there, except maybe a few trail crew teams filling up holes left by the rain. You may even see some deer! And there are lots of treasures to find all over the place from the plant life having been blown about. I collected some pretty pieces to hang inside. Pippin wasn't too fond of the treasures, he got tumbleweed stuck to his face on several separate occasions, haha. He also didn't quiet understand my picture taking and decided to munch on all the grass I tried to photograph. Whatever, jokes on you Pippin — it totally enhances the image :)

Spring Floral and Stripes

Yesterday morning we went out to the park early, and although I sported my down jacket for the majority of our walk the sunshine felt glorious. Taking my coat off for pictures, for once, wasn't freezing torture. The day warmed up and we saw a high around 70 F! What? I shed my jacket and traded my flats for chacos. The park (camels back park here in Boise) later in the afternoon was a bit surreal, as the density of people in that park reached something I have never seen before on a random Sunday in March. The trees lining the bottom of the hills were entirely strung with hammocks and slack lines and people. Bikers and hikers were a plenty. Every child in a 5 mile radius (I swear) was packed on that playground. Several families had even packed in their grills. And I mean, like giant propane grills. What even. So funny. Everyone was basking in the spring glory, in their own way. We took another hike/walk in the evening, because we simply couldn't help it. And after, I insisted that we enjoy dessert (affogatos) on the patio before dinner. Because, who can resist ice-cream in the sunshine?

Wearable Spring Inspiration

one  | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight | nine

The signs of spring are all around me already, and it is (almost) hard to believe but certainly a relief. This winter has seemed harsher than normal (this is coming from someone who loves winter), probably due to that long inversion we suffered. Lately, we've gotten an abundance of rain, temperatures have been at least above 50 F almost daily, and green is sprouting from all sorts of plant-life. I've been turning off the heat in our apartment during the day, as the sun in the afternoon is more than satisfactory. Pippin even lays out on the patio like he's having a relaxing day at the beach. That, and planning his attack plan for those squirrels.

Warmer weather means I have been grabbing pieces from my closet that I've shied away from for months. I've been especially drawn to all my loose, flowy, sheer tops and bright(er) colors. I'm really loving lace, embroidery, denim/chambray, neutrals, and starch whites too. Above are a few pieces/images I've found (most via my styled right pinterest board) that match the style I am currently leaning towards. They just don't necessarily match my budget, yeesh. But I'm still using the inspiration, regardless.

Is the season changing in your hometown yet? What styles and trends are you now gravitating towards?

Spring Dreaming

Harmonious Arrangement Dress/Flowerleaf Dress/Paint By Numbers Sundress/Forever 70’s Floral Dress

Waking up to fresh snow this morning has put me in the mood for some warmer weather. I just want to be able to go camping and spend time by the river and wear sun dresses and sandals and not freeze my butt off. I'm ready for floral everything, especially floral dresses, and if I had the cash to spare I'd be adding a few of these lovelies to my wardrobe. I suppose daydreaming about camping will be good enough for now. What are you looking forward to wearing with warmer weather?
